Location: my garden in Nagaon village, Maharashtra, Konkan Coast, SW India. I think it's Asilidae but I'm not sure.

It is one of the genera of Asilinae with modified wing in male (costa bulging out).

Clephydroneura, numerous spp. from the Oriental region. Costa generally bulging outward is very distinctive. Joseph and Parui, 1979 (Ent. scand. 10: 33-42) noted that it is much similar to the Afrotropical genus
Synolcus. By the way, an unidentified South African robber fly shown in the wikipedia article (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asilidae#/media/File:Closeup_Robber_Fly.jpg) most probably represents
Synolcus dubius (Macquart, 1846)
