Hello,
I photographed many of these flies on the sea shore and on a dead
Rhizostoma pulmo in Giulianova (TE), Italy on August 3rd 2021. I think they are Ephydridae, but is it possible to identify their genus or species from these photos?
Thank you in advance,
Emanuele

Thank you! According to the Checklist of the Italian Fauna, in Italy there is only
H. albicans. Unfortunately the checklist hasn't been updated since 2003, so I don't know how accurate this data is.

2017 update of Ephydridae Catalogue cites
albicans as the only Italian species.
