Hello!

I photographed this Asilidae near Lyon (south-east of France) on August 2, 2021. It was 8 mm long.
With the red genitalia, the global habitus and the size, perhaps it belongs to genus Cerdistus? If so, can we go further?
I have additional pics from other angles if needed.

Cerdistus is right. I would become more easy if you know how many C. species are known from France.

According to our national databank, we only have two species in that genus: Cerdistus erythrurus and Cerdistus melanomerus. Can we separate the two species with photos?

EDIT : the status of melanomerus seems unclear, I found only one mention to this species, which is its own description by Tsacas, 1964...
