Hello,

I observed this Bombyliidae the 2 of June in Saint-Martin-de-Crau in the south of France. I think of a Bombylius cruciatus, what do you think ?

Cordially Maxime

Hello Maxime, I don't think it's cruciatus, but probably a male B. posticus.

I think this is a male cruciatus. While the male of posticus is similar, notice the differente in the shape (elongate vs chunky, and the gradzal vs abrupt end to the whitish fur on the abdomen.
