New article
A new article by Nikita Vikhrev (on dolichopodids of the genus Medetera, in particular M. jacula) was added today.
Web citation archive: WebCite
Authors using refering to websites and/or webpages should take into account that websites may go offline or that their structure will change, which may result in future 'Page not found' errors. To prevent that from happening, the WebCite site was initiated. More information about this initiative (more or less the text on their index page) can be found in this artcile.
Ichneumonidae Key
A new key to Ichneumonidae of Britain and Ireland is available free at: http://www.brc.ac.uk/downloads/Ichneumonidae_subfamily_key.pdf

It is strongly recommended.

Copyrights and Forum Code of Conduct
Due to the growing popularity of Diptera.info (thank you all) it is necesary to make some things clear to everyone, not just members but also other visitors and interested people.
First, it should be clear how people should behave in the Forum: what is allowed, what is not, how should things be dealt with, etc. From now on, every member that wants to post in the Forum (or even edit previous posts) will have to read the Forum Code of Coduct and accept it. This will be registered in the database but at regular intervals, the Code will have to be accepted again. If the Code is updated, the list of those who have accepted the code will simply be claered and you can all click the right buttons again.
Second, a copyright notice is put in place in the Welcome message and in the page footer. Basically the notice tells that images placed on this site (either in the Forum or in the Diptera Gallery) will remain the property of the person who took the photo. It should be noted that I may want to use images on this site for other purposes (e.g., the Glossary) but as a rule I will ask permission, too (unless someone already gave a general permission to use their images).

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
