i hope that very soon can exist a forum for hymenoptera. Crex we can contact german site hymos.info so they can create a forum! why not??
Paul Beuk 18 April 2007 09:20:01
non-Diptera limiter for forum in place. Smile
Paul Beuk 18 April 2007 08:04:26
Crex, the other family site would use different site files and a different database. That would not lean very heavily on this site.
crex 17 April 2007 21:43:59
If someone wants to use PHP-Fusion on their own site about any of the other insect families I'm sure we can help to get it going Smile
crex 17 April 2007 21:30:00
Paul, if you are worried about too much traffic you shouldn't host another family forum. When I come to think about it this site already has enough bandwidth problems as it is ...
Tony Irwin 17 April 2007 20:44:49
But sooner or later someone will start "hymenoptera.info" and "arachnid.info". This site is too good not to copy! Then the traffic will go elsewhere.
Paul Beuk 17 April 2007 20:34:12
Sure, but then we still might start attracting all those people with other interests. Ultimately, too much traffic will start to slow down the site.
Tony Irwin 17 April 2007 20:14:47
Paul - if it's possible, I think Nikita's suggestion is good - allow the non-Diptera posts, but don't show them on the home page.
jorgemotalmeida 17 April 2007 19:32:18
it must be easy to find someone that CAN create a forum for hymenoptera.info!!! and this forum could provide a link to there and vice-versa! why not?? someone?? I like the format of this diptera.info.
jorgemotalmeida 17 April 2007 19:29:03
i agree with Kahis. Wink you could create a new hymenoptera.info the german site has no forum. Sad Sad

4. The code to limit the numer of non-Diptera posts can be implemented tomorrow. How many should be allowed in the timespan of 24 hours?
Paul Beuk 17 April 2007 18:59:34
3. Just re-re-re-updated the image validation code. Please try again and report back if it fails.
Paul Beuk 17 April 2007 18:58:43
2. Bugguide is nice, but has geographical restrictions.
Paul Beuk 17 April 2007 18:58:17
1. I'd like to reatin the option for non-Diptera, becasue they mey be Diptera-linked in some way.
Dmitry Gavryushin 17 April 2007 18:53:01
I'm afraid some problems with uploading images still persist - or 600 pixel width restriction's already active?...
crex 17 April 2007 18:11:18
IMHO, drop the non-diptera stuff. It'll find it's way to other sites. Link to useful forums for the other families.
Nikita Vikhrev 17 April 2007 17:45:49
Another ("soft" Wink way: non-dipt go to non-dipt forum without appearance at home page
Kahis 17 April 2007 17:14:03
IMO: remove the non-diptera section. For other insects, start a new forum or take over BugGuide Smile
