Hello,
this about 2 mm small midge was found on Sept. 3, 2020 east of Hannover, Germany on Tanacetum near a railway track. Is it possibly Ozirhincus tanaceti?

Many thanks in advance!
Hans

There are two species on Tanacetum:

Ozirhincus hungaricus has 11-12 flagellomeres
Ozirhincus longicollis (= tanaceti) has 10 flagellomeres

Both species are found in Germany.

Dear John,

thank you again for your great help!
I tend to "see" 10 flagellomeres, those are marked in my 300 %-view.
If you have no objection I call it O. longicollis.

My best regards!
Hans

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
