Hello,

Is it possible to know the family and perhaps genus oh this larvae ?
Found under old bark of dead wood on the ground, in the woods. They grazed the surface of dead wood.

Hi Jessica, I have an idea, but unfortunately could not find anything to substantiate this until now: it reminds me of a larva of a sawfly (Symphyta). But I've not heard of such a larva grazing under bark. What do you think about it and do you have more photos of the larva?

Greetings, Eric

Hello,

Thank you for your answer !
I don't think it's a Symphyta because of the head, which is clearly visible and looks like the head of a caterpillar, but I could be wrong.

Here is another picture, I have no other postures Sad

First, I thought Mycetophilidae, but I don't find pictures of similar larvae.

I hadn't noticed these two spots. Indeed it could be eyes. I'm looking but for the moment I can't find anything like it!

the spotes marked with the yellow circles are the anterior spiracles. I don't even think it is a Diptera, but other than that, I don't recognize it.
