Photos from 25 Jul 2020, Badem, RLP, Germany. Size estimate is 15mm. My best guess is Eristalis tenax maybe.

Thanks for your help. Upon researching the two species I looked carefully at the original photo & discovered that the Arista has hairs covering its entirety & that they are relatively long being about 1/4 as long as the Arista. I gather from this that it the more common male Eristalis arbustorum.
