Dear colleagues,
My compilation of checklist and keys to Dolichopodidae (Diptera) of the Caucasus and East Mediterranean is now formally published. I have prepared pdf file containing the book (1.2 MCool, which is now, which is now downloadable from Diptera.info. I am very sorry that I have no free paper copies. If you wish to get paper copies for your institution library, please transfer to me by any way some money for post service mainly: 20 Euro (or 30 USD or equivalent in Roubles) for one copy. Please ask me for details.

[Grichanov, I.Ya. 2007. A checklist and keys to Dolichopodidae (Diptera) of the Caucasus and East Mediterranean. St.Petersburg: VIZR RAAS (Plant Protection News Suppl., ISSN 1815-3682): 160 p.]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Abstract.
A check list and keys to genera and species of Dolichopodidae of the Caucasus and East Mediterranean are compiled. 518 species and 52 genera known in this region are included in the list, belonging to the nine subfamilies. Introductory notes concerning systematic position, ecology and morphology of Dolichopodidae are given. New synonyms and a new name are proposed. 512 species are included into the keys. Following countries and regions are counted: 263 species are known from Romania, 183 from Ukraine, 113 from Bulgaria, 96 from Greece, 92 from Israel, 71 from Turkey, 60 from Georgia, 59 from Egypt, 51 from Armenia, 35 from Abkhazia, 29 from Iraq, 17 from Moldova, 16 from Azerbaijan, 8 from Syria, 7 from Cyprus, and 3 from Lebanon. In South Russia, 196 species are known from Krasnodar Terr. and Adygea, 66 from Karachai-Cherkessia, 58 from Kabardino-Balkaria, 38 from Rostov Region, 35 from Alania, 21 from Stavropol? Terr., and 6 species from Dagestan. Paper book can be ordered from author.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everybody ordering a paper copy will get a gift, i.e., Doli Phototheque on CD laser disk, - free supplement to A checklist and keys to Dolichopodidae (Diptera) of the Caucasus and East Mediterranean.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Phototheque contains more than 2000 photos of Doli's imago for about 350 common and rare species of the Caucasus and East Mediterranean. Their quality is more or less moderate, sometimes bad (sorry). Basic lay-out includes photos of habitus, head or antenna, wing, hypopygium and/or other male secondary sexual characters. A few photos of live flies are included; thanks to amateur entomologists who presented them for the Doli Homepage (Phototheque): http://www.dolicho.narod.ru/. The CD disk contains also some scanned figures for other (non-photographed) species borrowed mainly from papers of Becker, Grichanov, Grootaert, Meuffels, Negrobov, Olejnicek, Parent, Parvu, Shtakel?berg, Vaillant, Weber.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Regularly updated CD disk is available along with paper book only.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everybody ordering a paper book will get also free paper copy of one of the following 3 books (according with your choice):
Grichanov, I.Ya. 2006. A checklist and keys to North European genera and species of Dolichopodidae (Diptera). St.Petersburg: VIZR RAAS (Plant Protection News Suppl., ISSN 1815-3682): 120 p.
Grichanov I.Ya. 2005. Russian-English and English-Russian dictionary for entomologists. 2nd ed., corrected. St.Petersburg: VIZR RAAS, 116 p.

Thank you Paul. I hope this work will stimulate new dipterists to study Dolis. And thanks to Nikita who has stimulated me to finish this work.

By the way, I sent you also pdf (2004) with afrotropical Dolis to publish. This region is of my primary interest and I shall gladly accept any help in order to continue african study.

Best regards.

Igor Grichanov

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
