This is a female of the species formerly known as Merodon avidus. Popovic et al. (2015, https://www.resea..._Syrphidae) showed, however, that the "true" M. avidus was restricted to the Mediterranean region, whereas the sibling species found in the continental part of Europe is M. moenium. Therefore: female M. moenium, as Leipzig is not Mediterranean |
