Hello all:
This Asilid is seen today in Shanghai, China landing on my towel. Any ideas? I think it looks similar to Promachus sp.
Thanks in advance!

Subfamily Asilinae, but not Promachus. Closer to the Machimus-group of genera.

Hi Chris:
Thanks! I kept the specimen. Are there any features that will help with the ID?

It belongs to the Asilinae, something near Neomochtherus

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
