Hi I have some larvae to rear out. I am trying to rear them to see what fly can come out... Perhaps an uncooked meat is enough? They are Sarcophagidae/Calliphoridae/Muscidae larvae... Suggestions will be welcome.  Thank you. |

For my "red commercial larvae" (Lucilia) I put some melon and egg. |

i tend to use cat food in a pouch made of tin foil, which is placed on soil for pupation, all incased in a fly cage (or a polystyrine cup!!) |

this shows the pupation media at the bottom (i used vermiculite, but sand, sawdust or soil will work)

Cat litter (cheap non-clumping kind) would presumably also work as pupation medium.

susan anything will do, as long as it allows them to get away from the food source and for a bit of piece and quiet,. theres no food or larvae in my pics |
