By the shape of the frontal callus and the broad, strong stripes: probably Thereva microcephala. It is a boreomontane species - where did you find this specimen? Flight time is listed as June-August. Kahis |

The black spot on the frons doesnt reach to the eye - that doesn?t fit to plebeja / strigata. The grey bands at the margin of T3 and T4 are complete - that doesn?t fit to microcephala. Which species have such distinct grey stripes on the mesoscutum? Jens-Hermann |

Are you sure the grey bands are complete. They look rather interrupted to me, at least on T2 and T4? Then again, I've been wrong before

Dear Kahis! At least I am quite sure that there has been a complete grey band and the dark spots didn?t reach the back. But I have never seen microcephala and I don?t know how this species looks like. But I have a good starting point and will compare the specimen with microcephala.
