Hi, Only 6 mm body length for this Asilidae from Kourou, French Guiana. I was not able to go far in the identification. In "Le Monde des Insectes" french forum, they said to me it could be a Laphriinae or a Stenopogoninae What do you think of that ? |

This looks to be an Atomosia sp. (male). This is a huge neotropical genus; species-level identifications are generally not possible at present. These small asilids are are members of the group Atomosiini, which is variously treated as either a tribe of the subfamily Laphriinae or as an independent subfamily Atomosiinae. |

Thanks for all these informations. I thought it was "almost" clearly an Atomosiini, and you could confirm it, that's great. I think we now can classify it as Atomosia sp. in "Le Monde des Insectes" forum. |
