Berlin - July 2017

Hello everyone,

I found this sitting in the sandy pathway at heathland area. The photo was made with a 500mm telephoto lens not macro. I have tried to find a genus and nothing looks similar. I stumbled across Philonicus albiceps searching through the German Asilidae list and i think that it looks similar.

So is anyone able to confirm Philonicus albiceps? or suggest a better match?

many photos but all from the same angle.

Best wishes,
John

Thank you very much, Markus Smile

I am happy to have a name for this species. I remember tht it followed me down the path/weg for a few minutes. A very interesting and friendly species.

Best wishes,
John
