After much fussing, I think I have this one keyed out to Thricops using the Manual of the Nearctic Diptera. However, I'm a novice at this and also don't have access to either Savage's 2003 revision of the genus or Malloch's 1921 paper on "Trichopticus" so I'd really appreciate some help with the ID.

Thanks in advance!

Steve

Steve, send me your e-mail and you will get Jade's revision.
But I don't think it helps: it is not Azeliini, but some Nearctic Phaonia (NA Phaonia badly need revision, so I can't give you species name).

Thanks Dr. Vikhrev! I think I misinterpreted couplet 18: "Hind coxa with a row of setae near Iower margin of posterior surface" (leading to Thricops) vs. "Hind coxa without setae on posterior surface" (leading to Phaonia)

Could this be Phaonia apicata Johannsen 1916?
