Hello,

after a discussion about Chrysotoxum in another forum, I wanted to check, if these two specimens might be Chrysotoxum intermedium?

With the 3rd antenna segment longer than 1+2 together and a very short-haired abdomen it should be C. intermedium according to the key http://web.archiv...x_key.html. Speight (2017, http://pollinator...counts.pdf) points out that "C. intermedium" is rather a species complex, and the individuals of central Europe might be C. lessonae. To find out in detail is a job for the experts and requires molecular studies...

Thank you, Sundew, for your very informative answer and the additional information about the species complex Smile.

With kind regards,
