Hello, after a discussion about Chrysotoxum in another forum, I wanted to check, if these two specimens might be Chrysotoxum intermedium? specimen 1 Date: 21.09.2017 Location: Germany, Baden-Württemberg, Black Forest, Wolfach - Halbmeil, Hohberg NNW camping area, in a sparsely grown mixed forest KathrinJ attached the following image: [162.61Kb] Edited by KathrinJ on 27-01-2019 22:25 |

With the 3rd antenna segment longer than 1+2 together and a very short-haired abdomen it should be C. intermedium according to the key http://web.archiv...x_key.html. Speight (2017, http://pollinator...counts.pdf) points out that "C. intermedium" is rather a species complex, and the individuals of central Europe might be C. lessonae. To find out in detail is a job for the experts and requires molecular studies... Regards, Sundew Edited by Sundew on 28-01-2019 02:15 |
