Hello! I found this small (5-7 mm) fly today on a meadow near a forest, but have no idea of the family, rather than it's another Lauxaniidae. Or what else could it be? Thanks! Once I met a fly looking like yours (exept shape of antenae). http://www.diptera.info/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=5&thread_id=682 To tell truth, Kahis's ID still leave some doubts in my mind. For instance, I can't see that line on thorax isn't break as it have to be for Muscoid according family keys I have. Nikita Vikhrev - Zool Museum of Moscow University |

Hi J?rgen, If I would have to put a family name to your fly, it would be Lauxaniidae. Maybe one of the others can give a positive identification. And Nikita, although I can understand your doubt about the identification of your fly, I totally agree with Kahis that it is not a member of the Lauxaniidae! Jan Willem |
