 Help with fly id in Boulder Colorado

Hello everyone, I am new to the site and a new to diptera id; So, please excuse what is most likely a common diptera but it was quite unusual to me. I photographed the flys in the foothills of Boulder Colorado at an elevation of 7000ft. The date was September 16th 2007. The habitat is mixed conifer and decidous. This was of a different fly but same time same place. Looked to be just a color variation.

Maybe something like Adejeania vexatrix for the second one? ... it must be two different Tachinid species.

It's a Tachinid; possibly Adejeania vexatrix or something very similar. That is the lower fly, top fly looks like a different species, could try Paradejeania Edited by Tony T on 23-09-2007 16:11 |
