Hi, I cannot decide between these two species, as I am not sure whether the posterior katepisternum is tomentose or not... Found in Lower Austria, End of May. Cheers Lorin Edited by Carnifex on 12-07-2018 23:45 |

I would make this D. rufipes because of the lack of tomentum on the scutum and the firm antennae (In rufipes the scape is about twice as long as pedicel and all segments are more robust) including the large antennal hump (not clearly visible). There seems to be some tomentum in neighbourhood of the posterior side of the katepisternum but it could (should) be also on the anterior side of the meron.

Thanks a lot, Reinoud! The antenna is not so well visible here, but I only have this one pic. But I can follow your arguments.
Cheers, Lorin Font Color All requests are from the urban area of Vienna, if not otherwise stated. My Diptera observations (and other living forms) can be found here, and corrections or comments over there would also be appreciated. |
