Caribou, Maine? The closest I can find browsing BugGuide is Laphria posticata, which has black-haired tibiae. |

I did put a question mark there. I don't really know much about American asilidae but Caribou seems to be in the North East, according to Bullingtons list and pictures this one came closest. Colour of hairs in Palearctic Laphria is rather variable, is it different in the Nearctic? Using the key with a bit of luck I get to L. posticata but again description of hairs on legs do not fit..... in other words, I tried but haven't got a clue. :-)
