Hi, Here is Asilidae I met last year in North Sardinia. I'm bothered because I identified it as a Tolmerus corsicus. But it is really different from the one I just posted here: https://diptera.i...d_id=83330 So do you think I was wrong in my identification? clovis : Italie : Dorgali : 08022 : 01/07/2016 Altitude : 551 m - Taille : 15 mm Réf. : 199085 clovis : Italie : Dorgali : 08022 : 01/07/2016 Altitude : 551 m - Taille : 15 mm Réf. : 199082 clovis : Italie : Dorgali : 08022 : 01/07/2016 Altitude : 551 m - Taille : 15 mm Réf. : 199083 clovis : Italie : Dorgali : 08022 : 01/07/2016 Altitude : 551 m - Taille : 15 mm Réf. : 199084 |

Aaaaghhhhh, the whole group of Machimus/Tolmerus etc. of species can give a headache. I think most dipterists gave up on them a long time ago. This specimen seems to have an elongated eighth sternite which should exclude corsicus. But admittedly I am not 100% sure about my ID in your other post. Pro are: Corsica, no projection on eighth sternite, rest fits description. Need to compare it with type material I am afraid.
