After trying several keys and arriving at Brachystoma I found out that you already posted another thread recently and got the same answer (https://diptera.i...d_id=82940). So this should probably be Brachystoma vesiculosum, at least there is no other choice according to the Fauna Europaea. Regards, Sundew |

Fauna Europaea only mentions two species of Brachystoma, B. vesiculosum and B. obscuripes. According to Loew's original description te legs of obscuripes should be entirely dark, except for, sometimes, the mid coxae. Frey (1956; Die Fliegen) lists obscuripes as synonym of vesiculosum without any comment. He also describes another species from Japan, B. pleurale, which is certainly different from the species pictured above. So, B. vesiculosum seems a safe identification.
