I saw these Tabanids in the Dutch dunes, last sunday. It's Chrysops, I guess, but what species? Regardless of the species, they were a bit annoying, being as much interested in me (or my blood) as I was in them! (acutally, not these one, they were happy on their own...)

probably the same species

Look at the rainbow coloured-eye! With most viewing angles, the eyes were green, with reddish spots most pronounced in one sex.
