Hello,

normally I know flies with this appearance measuring 7-9 mm, but this one was only 4.5 mm. On a big leaf near small creek (northwest Germany).

P.S.: What is the difference between families Micropezidae and Neriidae? I see genus Neria in Micropezidae not Neriidae (?!?).

Nerius and Neria are both valid genera in different families. Species of family Neriidae (type genus Nerius) have apical arista. I don't know if you have a Neria in your photos.

thanks! I was just a bit confused, because both families contain superficially similiar, very slender flies... awkward
Best regards,
Jürgen
