Dear colleagues,

I found these larvae on decomposing cow meat (experiment) in a salt marsh habitat on Spiekeroog island (Germany) mid-September 2015. Does anyone have an idea at least which family we are dealing with here? We have species 'E' and 'ZE'.

You can find the picture here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/b0nlkj7h4z7e82q/AAASEwPmuYO3tdM6SbN9bTfZa?dl=0

Thanks in advance!

Hagen

I think they are both Muscidae flies for there is an extra bar of chitine just ventral of the mandible.

Thanks... Any possibility to reach species level?

Kind regards,
Hagen

I will try to fix the messages this month. We have to make some other configuration changes before software goes out of support at end of year.
