Hi * locality - Lama Grande - Montesinho - Bragan?a - PORTUGAL * date - 2007.08.04 * size - 7 mm (medium fly) * habitat - prairies.. * substrate - plant Pangonius sp. Which one? Well, the genus Pangonius in Europe is, in my humble opinion, quite a mess at the moment. Unfortunately we can't see the dusting on the face, but given the clear spots in wing this should be a male variegatus. I'most interested in sorting this genus out, so please collect ! By the way, what happened with the antennae ? Both broken ? Theo |

yes. They were broken during the transport from Montesinho to Viseu.  I have it collected. Indeed, Pangonius is very common in Montesinho! As Chrysops spp.! And some more tabanids.  It is a paradise to Tabanidae lovers. |
