found on 2017-03-13, Al Marmoum Conservation Reserve, Emirate Dubai, UAE. Is it a Tephritidae (but I found this species directly on the sand only)? Is there any knowledge about the mating behavior of this species? I noticed eye touching and kissing and very emancipated females... video: https://upload.wi....720p.webm Pristurus attached the following image: [173.48Kb] My diptera videos: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User %3APristurus/gallery/Diptera |

Well, this impressing behavior was described in Dikow, T. & W.N. Mathis (2002): A revision and phylogenetic study of Actocetor Becker (Diptera: Ephydridae). Proceedings of the Entomological Society of Washington, 104 (2):249–290. and recently by W. N. Mathis et al. (2017): Order Diptera, family Ephydridae - A conspectus on shore-flies from the United Arab Emirates.
