August 11, 2007, swept on a meadow. Size around 3 mm. Flat and moving fast, easy to take for a small rove beetle.

Hi Dima,

According to Jeroen de Rond (who is specialized in Dryinidae and Bethylidae) this is a female of Goniozus. To be more specific:

Goniozus distigmus = Goniozus claripennis (partially), publication in preparation

Many thanks Jan Willem (hope to make more decent shots soon, I believe they are quite numerous there) - I'll follow your advice Paul Wink.

Lovely photo. Bethylidae were one of my favourite groups when I dabbled in Hymenoptera but I only found 2 and gave up from lack of specimens!! Wink

there are beautiful photos of Dryinidae here:

and Bethylidae here:

in truth... this website is the best for wasps I've ever seen. The photos amaze us in such way that we almost scream in silence.

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
