Sorting through my macro shots from this year and have been unable to ID the following.
pic #6 about 15mm long, pic #7 about 10mm long.

The first is Chloromyia formosa, the second is (I think) Beris vallata. Both are soldier flies. The reason why I am not sure about the second is that it is a lateral view and for females, the distinguishing characters are visible in dorsal view. B. vallata has more yellowish wings than B. clavipes and I think that is visible in this shot. As a rule, it is also found later in the year, but without date that the picture was taken, that cannot be verified now.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
