Found this fly on the inside of a window in a birdbanding station i Southern Sweden this summer. I have done some reading here in the forum threads, so I hope the I got the at least the family right!
Is it possible to ID this one even without counting the number of bristles on the apex of the scutellum?

Dear Martin,
No worries, even the genus is correct.
And it is not avicularia, that is for sure.
Fringillina and chloropus are extremely close.
Microtrichia on wing suggest chloropus, but this is very difficult to assess from photo's.
So it is a tentative ID.

If you still have the fly, please make a pic of the ventral, side of the head.

Thanks Theo for your informational answer!

Nope, no more pics on this fly. Now I know that I will save some flies and take better photos for next summer!
