Has E. similis (pratorum) a yellow or black haired scutellum? All pics in your gallery show yellow hairs, but Sack writes in Lindner: "Schildchen auf der Fläche schwarz behaart"

In the Eristalis key http://web.archiv...stkey.html you get to E. similis without checking scutellum hair colour, so don't worry about it... One can google many well identified flies that seem to have a purely yellow-haired scutellum, here (http://www.rspb.o...inale.aspx), however, black hairs are visible.
