Good evening,

September is Sciomyzidae - time, yesterday I saw a little ( 2 mm ) fly, keeping its wings in a (at least for me) rather unusual position.
Because of the stripy eyes and the pronounced antennas I suppose it was a snail-killing fly.
Am I right and could somebody tell more ?

Ben

Alas, no, you are wrong. It is a species of Stegana of the family Drosophilidae. The way the dark wings are held are characteristic for the genus.

Stripy eyes and pronounced antennas and not a Sciomyzidae sp : There are no certainties in life anymore.

Thanks a lot,

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
