Hello,

perhaps Xylophagus cinctus female?
Location: Northwest of Germany, wet meadow, near to a mixes forest, size about 15 mm, photos on 06.05.2015.

It is Xylophagus, but I need to work on the species. Looks like female compeditus.

Yes it is ater / compeditus.
As you know, these is a quarrel on the correct name (see Stubbs).

Hello Konrad & Theo,

Actually Chandler 1998 cleared up the confusion about the correct name: it is Xylophagus ater Meigen, 1804.
