Hello! Is it possible to identify this small Tachinid after the photos? Gymnosoma nudifrons? Thanks in advance! http://insektenin...soma_2.jpg http://insektenin...soma_3.jpg Best regards, Jürgen -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Juergen Peters Borgholzhausen, Germany WWW: http://insektenfo... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= |

Hi Juergen, It is a male Gymnosoma alright, but it is impossible to tell the species from these pictures (and probably, from any pictures). Could be nudifrons, could be dolycoridis or even clavatum. Theo Zeegers |

Hello, Theo! Zeegers wrote: It is a male Gymnosoma alright, but it is impossible to tell the species from these pictures (and probably, from any pictures). I tried to get pictures of the face, because I hoped there were some characters like a "naked face" (= nudifrons) which could help in identification. Sorry Juergen, but the 'nudifrons'-feature is restricted to the female sex. There is no way to be sure on the males, but best effort would be a very good picture of the scutum and scutellum Good luck Theo |
