I don't know how many species of Merodon exist in Europe but here in England I'd say M. equestris Smile

In southern europe there are a lot of Merodon species (over 50 in Europe i thought) but the most of them are not as hairy as Merodon equestris. The bulky appearance and the all black legs make me think this is M. equestris but there are more experienced syrphid experts on this forum...

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
