A last one for today... For this Myopa sp couple, I think about Myopa extricata. Is it possible to confirm ? (Other views available, bigger size whenever needed) (Saint Apollinaire (21), France - 5th May 2004 - 11 mm) Edited by Arthropa on 10-03-2007 00:31 Benoit MARTHA |

Benoit, I think you have arrived in the right couplet for identifying this species, either M. extricata or M. tessellatipennis. Do you have a detail or another view of the head? It is difficult to say exactly what the colour of the palps is, but from what I can see you are probably right (the palps appear to be pale). Paul - - - - Paul Beuk on https://diptera.info |

Here are the picts : Maybe I'm wrong, but palpae are brown, so, it would be M. tesselatipennis ? (Thanks to the Myopa key on Mark van Veen's website) Hope this will help ! Yours, Edited by Arthropa on 04-09-2004 17:11 Benoit MARTHA |

You hit the nail right on the head, dark palpi -> tessellatipennis.
