Diptera on the beach in Poland, Gdansk

There were thousands of them on the beach between Gdansk and Sopot (Poland) 13.05.2007. All wet with the sea water. It look like they could be thrown from the sea. Could you help with identification and tell what did they do on the beach this time?

there were some diptera of this genus too.
but less than the genus showed above.

Both are Bibio (Diptera: Bibionidae). Bibionids have rather pronounced sexual dimorphism. The first one is a female and the 2nd one a male. Probably not of the same species though.

Kahis is quite right ! The wing venation is different.
The male (last) one is either Bibio marci or leucopterus,
the female is something in the johannis - varipes complex.
