Taken in Granada, Southern Spain. May 2007. Very common in flowers. This insect has a long proboscis inserted in the flower (hidden in the photo). Many thanks. Edited by javig on 20-05-2007 11:12 |

yes, I also have thought Conophorus... but in a book I read the genus Conophorus has the proboscis same length that the head, but the book is only for French species... Thanks Jorge! |

I am away from my collection at the moment so have to rely on memory. if it has a long proboscis like Bombylius then possibly Bombylisoma. Conophorus should have a relatively short proboscis and swollen basal antenna segments. |

mmm... yes, it has the basal segments of the antenna swollen, and the proboscis is shorter than Bombylius, but not very short... Another view (it's not a good photo): thanks to all |
