I don't even know if this is a fly or not. Saw it on grass ina heatherfield. Slow flying and not scared. About 1 cm long. Can anyone refine my wide search? Thank you. Andr? |

Strictly speaking, flies are all insects belonging to the Diptera and this one certainly beongs there. It is a dark-winged fungus gnat of the genus Sciara, family Sciaridae.
