Date: 2007-MAY-05 Location: Midwest Sweden (Dalsland) Habitat: Garden, resting on a tree Some Tabanus sp I think. Unfortunately the fly got scared off by a nosy ant so I only have this single photo. Cant't ID it but looks more like a Hybomitra than a Tabanus |

I agree, a male Hybomitra. Impossible to ID from photo. However, given time and locality, H. lurida male is quite likely. Photo is consistent with this tentaive ID. Theo Zeegers |
