I think this must be Stratiomys longicornis, female. Could someone please confirm? From 7 May 2007, Ch?rine Nature Reserve, Indre, central France. I'd be interested to know what the status of this fly in France is. Can anyone recommend any literature on Strats in France? I must say, I agree with Tony's comment on Wilde's photo of the male in the gallery. They look remarkably like bees - rather oddly, it was the legs that give this one away once I gave it a second look in the field.
