Hello! This fly (about 8-10 mm) visited Heracleum blossoms yesterday (Ostwestfalen/Germany). Can it be determined more closely? Thanks! Hi Chris, Voriini ! But I see discal setae. And do I see hairs on the eye, Juergen, could you check the right eye please ? In which case it would be ?Cyrtophleba. Theo Zeegers |

Hello, Chris and Theo! Thanks for your replies! Zeegers wrote: And do I see hairs on the eye, Juergen, could you check the right eye please ? I'm not sure, if I see it correctly, but there seem to be hairs of course. Difficult to tell ... i thought they were hairs when I first saw the photo, but in closeup it could just be the same white dust (pollen?) as seen on the arista and some other bristles. |

Well, difficult to tell. I would say the eyes are bare, and this must be Athrycia trepida -> strong discal setae so no Voria -> eyes bare -> spring species (no curvinervis) -> not impression in wing (no impressa) which leaves trepida Theo Zeegers |
