It's not really a question about rearing, but I found no better place to post it:
I've reared one of the Volucella inanis larvae from this thread:
http://www.dipter...ad_id=3906 Now I'm not sure how to store the exuvia. Should I glue it on a plate and put it on the pin together with the specimen?

Hi G?nter
Normal practice would be to glue the puparium on a card and mount it on the pin under the specimen. Ideally the puparium would be glued on its side, so that both dorsal and ventral sides are visible. With those puparia that have a lid that pushes off, be careful to collect and glue that on as well. Often the lid contains the mouthparts of the larva - very important characters for identifying preserved larvae.
