A symphyta from SW Sweden yesterday, about 10 mm body length. In a key to swedish symphyta I come to the genera Macrophya, but I don´t think it is correct. I would be veru thankful for help to genera.

Many thanks for respons!

The reason why I didn´t think that it is a Macrophya is that none of the ten species recorded from Sweden looks like this with red thorax and yellow legs. M. teutona is not recorded from Sweden, but it is known from Germany, so it would be very nice if it is that species. In the keys I have teutona is not mentioned and I don´t find any descriptions of that species.

Does anybody now where I can find a description of this species?

Best regards

Krister

Fantastic - thanks again! It seems to be a very useful book! It is a pitty that I just now a little french, but I will have to learn and get help from my friends.

In any case it looks very good for teutona, but first I must find out so that there are no close related genera with any species that it can be mixed up with.

It is clear that it is M. teutona - confirmed on HymisForum, by D.J Palmer, where it also recently is reported as new for Denmark. Perhaps another wasp that is widening it´s range to the north? Seems to live on especially Euphorbia cyparissias.
