This is the snail-killing fly or marsh fly, Coremacera marginata (Sciomyzidae). You can find a picture in the gallery as well (here).

Someone suggested coremacera tristis, but I can't compare because I can't find any images of this. I gather coremacera marginata is more common, so more likely or does coremacera tristis look entirely different? Andr |

If the picture was taken in the Netherlands, you can rest assured that it is C. marginata.
