From the Moscow pet-shop, 02.03.2012. Size is about 25 mm

In my opinion Chironomus spec. ID to species level is impossible withouth looking at the details of the head. 25mm is very large and exclude many species, however Chironomus (Camptochironomus) spec. is also a possibility |

I see (or imagine) two pairs of ventral tubules but no anal setae ? |

I agree with Chironomus, for I also see 2 pairs of ventral tubules, and the huge size is also almost typical for a Chironomus. However ID is not possible withouth looking at details of the head, for instance the number of striae on the Ventromental plates. C. plumusos is large but also a contains a number of sibling species i.e. muratensis, bernensis. |
