Attached is a USB microscope photo of a 10 mm beetle, resembling one of the much larger Chafer beetles, that was present in abundance from late May through to early July in my locality. Records for this species are as follows:

[1] 2013 06 06: OS Grid Reference SJ501855, 11:43 to 11:59 BST

[2] 2013 06 17: OS Grid Reference SJ499855, 12:41 to 12:42 BST

[3] 2013 06 19 : OS Grid Reference SJ496853, 15:26 to 15:31 BST

[4] 2013 07 03 : OS Grid Reference SJ499855, 12:32 to 12:44 BST

in sunny weather, this species readily takes flight. Antennae are trifurcated at the extremities, if this feature is useful, and the beetle can fold the three 'fingers' at the ends of the antennae together.

Here's a second photo, showing the trifurcated antennal extremities unfolded.

Any help with ID appreciated. Smile
