Hi all, Yesterday afternoon I photographed a mating pair of Myopa species in my garden, (Derby, UK), but I am unsure which one they are, if anyone can i.d., them or make a best guess I would be grateful. As well as the attached image other shots can be seen here : https://plus.google.com/photos/114234369585533058135/albums/5873277336946702721?authkey=CJOOsv-J4NjFiwE the extra images are the last six in the album at the link. Thanks. Steve :-) steveplant attached the following image: [140.01Kb] |

Sciomyzidae. My bet would be Hydromya dorsalis, but no certitude on that. |

Just had a look at Hydromya dorsalis and I trust your judgement :-) My mistake re thinking they were Myopa, misled by a wrongly labelled image on the internet ! Thanks again, Steve :-) |
